Talking Cure

Tobi is a dedicated and experienced clinical psychologist who offers a therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely heard, seen, and deeply understood. He is passionate about supporting individuals who face complex emotional struggles, ongoing mental health challenges, and the lasting effects of trauma. His particular interest lies in the deeper impact of developmental and relational trauma, and the personality dynamics that often result—especially those related to narcissistic struggles. Tobi works closely with clients on issues of self-worth, identity, and relationships.

His approach is grounded in modern psychodynamic therapy, with a strong focus on the relational and interpersonal dimensions of healing. Originally trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at the Centre for Integrative Psychotherapy (CIP Bamberg) in Germany, Tobi continues to thoughtfully integrate third-wave modalities such as ACT, Schema Therapy, and CBASP into his psychodynamic framework.

Since relocating to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2015, Tobi has worked across a range of clinical settings, including several years with Hawke’s Bay DHB’s community mental health services. He is now the Director of Talking Cure, a respected psychotherapy practice and ACC Sensitive Claims provider based in Napier. In addition to his clinical work, Tobi offers supervision and is committed to supporting the growth and development of other clinicians.
