Hello, Kia Ora! My name is Ruchi Ahuja, and I am a Counsellor and Movement Therapist dedicated to supporting individuals in their journey toward physical and emotional well-being. A bit of a globe trotter, I’m originally from Mumbai, India and have spent significant portions of my life in the United States, India, and now Aotearoa/New Zealand. These experiences have shaped my understanding of identity, belonging, and cultural nuance in the therapeutic process.
My therapeutic practice can be described as person-centred, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and somatically driven. My work is deeply rooted in the understanding that the mind and body are interconnected and prioritises the embodiment of our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I draw from humanistic, attachment-oriented, neuroscientific, and psychoanalytic schools of psychology, tailoring my approach to meet each client’s unique needs.
Beyond the spoken word, I integrate movement, writing, and visual art into my practice, using these creative mediums as tools for self-exploration rather than products of perfection. My work travels beyond symptom relief—it is about fostering long-term transformation, helping you cultivate a deeper sense of self and a more empowered, fulfilling life.
Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, self-esteem challenges, or relational difficulties, I offer a compassionate and confidential space to explore your experiences. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as you cultivate resilience, insight, and agency in your healing journey.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning psychotherapy and movement, I am committed to helping you enhance your well-being. If my approach resonates with you, I’d love to connect!
