Jessica Lochte
Dance/Movement Therapist & Counsellor

Jess is a Dance/Movement Therapist and body-based Counsellor. Her work centers around the fundamental assumption that body and mind are interconnected and interdependently embedded in relationships and community. During therapy, Jess aims to create a place in which people feel comfortable and supported, and from which they can then work on their journeys towards health and well-being. She further specializes in the embodied experience of trauma and how it intersects with culture, history, race, gender, sexual orientation, national identity, and language.
Jess has worked in inpatient psychiatry and with refugees and asylum seekers in the larger Chicago area (USA), as well as in wellness centers and preventative healthcare settings in her hometown of Hannover (Germany). She further co-taught and facilitated courses and workshops on diversity, cultural humility, and cultural communication at Columbia College Chicago and collaborated with spiritual leaders and health care professionals in East Africa.

Jess constantly works on her own holistic approach, combining theories of creative art therapies and trauma treatment with concepts and ideas from neuroscience, polyvagal theory, and nutritional therapy. She is an approved ACC Sensitive Claims provider with a special interest in working with the LGBTQI+ community and other marginalized groups.
