Moving to Connect-Body-based Group for Neurophysiological Repatterning

This group programme focuses on exploring and repatterning Patterns of Total Body Connectivity in a structured and safe way. Repatterning aims at giving and increasing attention and awareness to each of these patterns, effectively increasing body awareness and embodied sense of control.

About The Event

We all create connections within our own bodies by laying down neuromuscular

patters or plans as we grow and experience the world. These neuromuscular

pathways and correlated psychomotor tasks organize the body to deal with

relationships internally and externally, effectively influencing the individual’s

capacity for being and moving in the world. Within the Dance/Movement Therapy

theory, six Fundamental Patters of Total Body Connectivity have been identified,

which form the basis for patterns of relationship and connection as we live our

embodied lives. Successful establishment of these neuromuscular patterns enable

an individual to be fully functional and expressive. However, injuries and adverse life

experiences can prevent these patterns from developing properly or disrupt them,

resulting in the development of compensatory patterns that do not effectively

support neuromuscular connection and may lead to either physical or

psychological problems. By returning to Patterns of Total Body Connectivity, one

can re-pattern responses and establish more efficient nervous pathways to support

connection to the self and others. Areas of tension and motoric restrictions can be

uncovered and freed up, further supporting the process of internal and external

reconnection.

This group programme focuses on exploring and repatterning Patterns of Total Body

Connectivity in a structured and safe way. Repatterning aims at giving and

increasing attention and awareness to each of these patterns, effectively

increasing body awareness and embodied sense of control, allowing a person to

move more fully and expressively, and to feel more connected to their body and

sense of self.

This programme is best administered complimentary to participant’s individual

therapy sessions (regardless of previous therapy orientation) and further along the

healing process. A willingness to move and connect to ones body is expect.
